Nikon D3s, like DOH! you can read it on the camera
Kelly Bonsack at Showcase Photo & Video in Atlanta, Georgia called me to tell me that the Nikon D3s I ordered had arrived. I have had a Nikon D3s since November of last year and it is just a phenomenal camera. Hands down, my favorite tool of all time. I have two Nikon D3 cameras (love 'em, still use 'em), a Nikon D700 that is a fantastic tool (especially at the price and weight/size) and a Nikon D3x that is also phenomenal, but a very specialized camera that I use primarily when shooting in pristine lighting conditions, i.e. in the studio or with studio lights on location.
The Nikon D3s, this long after its release, remain in short supply, and for very good reason, they're awesome and people are buying 'em; like me, yeah!!! Check out this review from the highly respected DP Review website - DPReview's in-depth review of the Nikon D3s and read the review, and you'll see why DPReview and every other publication thinks the D3s is the best DSLR ever made.
Here's a hint, It just kills in low light, has got features that are cooler than the other side of the pillow and generates images of incredible quality. I swear, this camera is like the Borg, you know from Star Trek - The Next Generation, it assimilates photons to create light where there seemingly is no light and the images are clean and usable at ridiculously high ISO speeds. I am not pulling your leg, you have to check out this camera; be warned, once you shoot it, they is no going back; unless of course you're a Canon shooter with cases of glass, then there is going back, but anybody else, watch out!!! IMHO, best 35mm DSLR camera ever made; it totally rocks!!!
I am a big sucker for sweet glass and this has got to be the sweetest glass Nikon has come out with in a long time. A super fast wide angle prime, the 24mm f/1.4G ED AF-S Nikkor. I am number two on the list when these start rolling off the production lines in Japan later this month or early next month hopefully. I cannot wait to see what incredible images I can take with this beauty. I feel like Golum, "My precious..." This lens is destined to become a go to tool over night.
